Designed after Atems priest mahad who gave his life to protect the pharaoh and became what we know today, the dark magician.

Palladium oracle mahad is truly the OG dark magician. A good one of in my opinion but i wouldn't be entirely against running two. And him being a level 7 allows for rank 7 plays. He also has the ability to call forth the OG dark magician (from grave) if you activate a spell or trap while he's face up on the field. He counts as "dark magician" while on the field and if you use a spell or trap during your opponents turn you can bring him to the field from your hand. A must run at 3ĭark illusion magician is cheaper but not nearly as powerful as his apprentice but holds his own none the less. You can tribute a quaked or floodgate'd spellcaster so that it doesn't get stuck on your field and then search on your turn using its first effect. This can be good for a lot of situations actually. You can also use his second effect which activates when you use a spell or trap during your opponents turn and tribute a spellcaster to add this card back to your hand for more searches. This card allows you to search, upon normal summon, any spell or trap that lists "dark magician". As dirty as that sounds it's an actual card, and a essential one at that. Also if a spell or trap is activated you can bring him from the grave. During your opponents turn you can pitch a dead or unneeded spell to summon a dark magician from your deck. Although not the most powerful card in the magicians arsenal it does come in handy. Magician's robe is a monster constantly overlooked by duelist. Not NEEDED but I really like him as a one of. He also adds any spell in your grave back to your hand at the end of the turn he was summoned. Banishing the monsters destroyed by this monster can really hurt your opponent in some cases. I really like this addition to the deck for numerous reasons I'll go over in a bit but even with his errata he still kicks but. OG dark magician is the core of this deck and as such should be ran at 3. No dark magician deck is true to its name without the man himself. This build is an alternative to most which run it at 3 and with the new reprints right around the corner, this build will be more playable than ever. But for us budget players it's price tag puts it beyond our reach. Almost every profile you look at includes the powerful apprentice illusion magician, and for good reason.
